Classification of magnetic materials

by:Catech      2023-04-22

Magnetic materials are mainly divided into hard magnetism and soft magnetism.

Hard magnetic material: It is a material that can still have magnetism after the magnetization field is removed; soft magnetic material is a material that has a high magnetic induction intensity when the magnetization field exists, and loses its magnetism when the magnetization field is removed. Hard and soft here do not mean hard and soft in mechanical properties, but hard and soft in magnetic properties. Magnetic hardness means that the magnetic material can retain its strong magnetism (referred to as magnetism) for a long time after being magnetized by an external magnetic field, and it is characterized by high coercive force. The coercive force is the magnetic field strength that reduces the residual magnetism (residual magnetic flux density or residual magnetization) to zero after the magnetic material is magnetized and then demagnetized. The soft magnetic material is a magnetic material that is easy to magnetize and demagnetize when a magnetic field is applied, that is, a magnetic material with a very low coercive force. Demagnetization refers to a magnetic field in which a magnetic field (called a magnetization field) is applied to magnetize a magnetic material, and then a magnetic field opposite to the direction of the magnetization field is added to reduce its magnetism.

Soft magnetic materials: Soft magnetic materials can be roughly divided into four categories.

①Alloy thin strip or sheet: FeNi(Mo), FeSi, FeAl, etc.

② Amorphous alloy thin strip: Fe-based, Co-based, FeNi-based or FeNiCo-based, etc. with appropriate Si, B, P and other doping elements, also known as magnetic glass.

③Magnetic medium (iron powder core): Powder materials such as FeNi(Mo), FeSiAl, carbonyl iron and ferrite, etc., are coated and bonded by electrical insulating medium and then pressed and formed according to requirements.

④Ferrite: including spinel type ── M O Fe2O3 (M represents NiZn, MnZn, MgZn, Li1/2Fe1/2Zn, CaZn, etc.), magnetoplumbite type ─ Ba3Me2Fe24O41 (Me represents Co, Ni, Mg, Zn , Cu and its composite components).

Soft magnetic materials are widely used, mainly used in magnetic antennas, inductors, transformers, magnetic heads, earphones, relays, vibrators, TV deflection yokes, cables, delay lines, sensors, microwave absorbing materials, electromagnets, and accelerators for high-frequency acceleration Cavities, magnetic field probes, magnetic substrates, magnetic field shielding, high-frequency quenching energy gathering, electromagnetic chucks, magnetic sensitive components (such as magneto-caloric materials for switches), etc.

To sum up the above, our company's magnetic ring products mainly use soft magnetic tape materials, amorphous and nanocrystalline iron-based tapes.

It isn't just about being on soft magnetic material anymore–it's about maximizing the potential of the platform of manufacturing.
